🐾 Additional Dental Procedure Details

Cats undergoing dental procedures are placed under light anesthesia to ensure their safety and comfort throughout the cleaning and evaluation process.

Once under anesthesia, each tooth is carefully examined for cavities, looseness, and root damage. Unfortunately, some problems aren’t visible until the cat is asleep and a full oral probe is performed. If a tooth is determined to be unsalvageable—due to infection, pain, or compromised structure—it must be extracted to protect your cat’s overall health.

Untreated dental infections don’t just affect the mouth—they allow bacteria to enter the bloodstream, potentially damaging vital organs like the heart and kidneys. Timely dental care can prevent long-term health complications.

Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is required for all cats age 8 and older. We strongly recommend it for younger cats as well to ensure they’re healthy enough to undergo anesthesia.
