We understand that the decision to euthanize your cat can be a very difficult decision to make. Maybe this verse (Author Unknown), will help you in some way.
"If it should be that I grow frail and weak, and pain should keep me from my sleep, then will you do what must be done, for this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad I understand, but don't let grief then stay your hand, for on this day, more than the rest, your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years, you wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where my needs they'll tend, only stay with me until the end. And hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree, it is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved, from pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you, who has to decide this thing to do. We've been so close, we two, these years, don't let your heart hold any tears."
This is MeeKai. She came to my husband and I as an extremely sick, almost 4 pound, three year old. At that time, she had pneumonia and you could see every bone in her body, from the base of her skull to the tip of her tail.
My love of the breed made me want to do everything to save her. With the help of the amazing staff at Allentown Cat Clinic, lots of food, and of course, love, she blossomed. We renamed her MeeKai, which means precious, and she sure was!
She greeted me every night at the door and would literally jump into my arms to rub all over my face. She slept under the covers with us at night, loved stealing spaghetti off our plates and being outside whenever we were.
We lost her at the very young age of 7 to renal failure. I miss her every day, but feel so blessed that we got to make her well and give her a family that loved her like mad! Funny...I know that she loved us just as much. You could see it in her eyes! :)
Daphne Zola (7/29/98 - 6/21/15)
Daphne was like another member of our family here. A frequent boarder, we all loved her to bits. She loved having her chin and face rubbed and her motor, ah, what a great sound! She will be terribly missed by her parents and all of us at Allentown Cat Clinic. We are so lucky that we got to have her as long as we did. She was a special girl.
"When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart. For everytime you think of me, I'm there inside your heart."
Larry Feld (6/16/98 - 9/28/15)
Larry was a lovable, funny senior! Although she had difficulty getting around for extended periods, she would be playful and then take some laying down breaks. She was quite comical when she boarded with us. Larry devoured her food, and was so excited for the Turkey Lovers with Gravy food that she had a big food face when she was done. Purring all the time, she was a special girl and will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.
Bobbin Hecht (2/1/97 - 10/8/15)
Bobbin was a very handsome domestic longhair that we all loved so much. Diagnosed many years ago with kidney disease, Bobbin became a frequent visitor to the clinic to receive fluid therapy. He never seemed to mind much, almost as if he knew we were all trying to help him.
Bobbin had a certain routine with the technicians which was comical to watch. He needed to come out of his carrier on one end of the treatment table, but never wanted to go back in unless his carrier would get placed on the opposite end of the table. Bobbin would fuss until the carrier got moved and then he'd walk straight in with this look like "Knew I'd make you do it my way!"
His owner, Peggy, took such good care of him! Bringing him in weekly for therapy, she became part of the family here as well. With a rousing "Bobbin's in the house!" from the staff whenever she came in the door with him, not only are we all missing him, but her as well. They were a great pair!
Bette Kostingo (7/4/96 - 5/24/17)
Bette was such a sweet princess and a favorite at the office. She lived to the young age of 20 years! She held her youth up to the very end. She will be missed by her mommy and everyone terribly. Run free sweetie! Stay young forever!
"Cannot say enough great things about this practice! First of all, they only attend to cats which is wonderful. You do not have to worry about your pet being stressed out with other animals such as dogs etc. Secondly, they are extremely thorough when accessing your animal. Have been taking my cats here for over 10 years. Other than Quakertown Animal Hospital, I won't trust anyone else with my cats."
